About the company
Rompetrol Rafinare SA is a member
company of Rompetrol NV Group. Rompetrol Rafinare operates the most
modern refinery in Romania.
The company processes a
variety of crude oils with high sulfur and API contents. The crude oil feeding
is done through the Midia own port, which can harbor ships of up to DWT 24 000
tons or through the larger Constanta port, to which it is connected
through a 40 km. pipe. The refinery has its own
marshalling yard, with 40 loading and unloading points and vehicle loading
ramps.
Apart from different
types of vehicle fuels, (gasoline, diesel and LPG) the company is the sole
national producer of Jet A-1 fuel and aims at becoming main fuel supplier for
airlines operating in Romania and in the Republic of Moldova in the near
future.
Rompetrol Rafinare
products meet European quality standards and environmental protection
regulations.
Currently the Refinery has a capacity to process 14 000 tons of
crude oil per day.
In Romania the products are traded via The Rompetrol Downstream distribution
network and
other retail and wholesale distribution
networks.
On the regional market,
Rompetrol Rafinare products are traded in countries such as Moldova, Bulgaria,
Turkey, Georgia, and Hungary. Rompetrol Rafinare products are also exported to
Croatia, Bosnia, Albania, and also to Western Europe.
History
Rompetrol Rafinare was built in the period between
1975 and 1977. Initially the company originated under the name of Petromidia
Oil Refinery.
In early 1990s the company underwent a significant
modernization.
