SOFIX is the official BSE's index. SOFIX hit a historical high of 1416.81 in the beginning of 2007. Since its introduction in 2000, SOFIX has been on track of a steady growth:

The official BSE index SOFIX represents a correlation of the sum of the market capitalization of the companies into the index portfolio on the
current day and the sum of the market capitalization of the companies into the index portfolio on the previous day.
The market capitalization of a company is defined as a multiplication of the number of the shares in its issue and the
weighted average price per share of the same issue for the respective trading session.
Only the most liquid companies, listed on the BSE-Sofia, are included in the index portfolio.
They should meet the following general requirements:
- The issues should have been traded on a regulated market for at least 3 (three) months before their introduction into the SOFIX portfolio.
Provided an issue has been transferred for trading from an Unofficial Market to an Official Market, the first quotation date of the issue on the Unofficial Market shall be assumed as its first trading date and vice versa;
- The market capitalization of each issue should not be less than BGN 50 million;
- The number of shareholders of each company should not be less than 500;
- The trade value of each issue for the last 12 /twelve/ months should exceed BGN 5 million;
- The free-float (number of shares held by minority shareholders with not more than 5% stake of the votes in the General Meeting of the issuing company) should not be less than 10% of the total volume of the issue;
- The number of trades in each issue during the last 12 /twelve/ months should exceed 1 000 transactions.
The number of the companies into the SOFIX portfolio could vary from 5 to 50. The current number of the companies included in the SOFIX portfolio is 16.
